Thrive : Art Classes for Kids on your iPad
OK… so I know it’s not really on-topic for Ultralight Backpacking, nor have I posted in a while; but I do want to share – if I have any subscribers left
… how proud I am that my wife Theresa has launched her project on Kickstarter. She’s on a mission to help raise more innovative kids in the world by allowing them to develop their creative skills.
I love her vision. Please watch the video and consider re-sharing and/or pledging to the cause!

Brett,
I have been getting back into backpacking after having kids. I replaced most of my gear with newer lighter stuff. I like your blog because we both hike in the same climate. I did the west coast trail in the mid 90′s. First hiked Rainier in the 60′s in Boy Scouts. I love Copper Ridge. My favorite place to hike has always been the Olympics. You and your mates should check out the Robert L. Woods book and do a cross country trip like upper Lena lake to home sweet home. There is also a short stretch of beach from Oil City to Third Beach which is cool.
I am a big fan of Feathered Friends which is a Seattle company which has great gear.
Kids grow fast so enjoy them while you can.
Hike on,
John
